Drone raids hit Kyiv UK adds Russia sanctions
Drone strikes Kyiv school
Oct 1
Oman TV describes reciprocal Russian and Ukrainian drone raids as winter approaches. It says Russia launched more than 100 drones toward Kyiv, Odesa and other areas; Ukrainian sources report a drone striking a Kyiv school without casualties and two drones targeting a major Kyiv bridge, interrupting public transport. Serhii Beskrestnov, presented as a presidential adviser, discusses jet-powered drones with warheads capable of damaging steel structures; the report gives 87 Russian drones intercepted. It reports more than 300 Ukrainian drones aimed at Russian oil, energy and other sites, civilian injuries and service disruption in Bryansk and Oryol, Black Sea targets, and Russia's claim to have intercepted more than 330 drones. It then reports British asset freezes and individual/entity bans, and says trade sanctions cover dozens of Russian vessels. The closing assessment leaves the war's attrition and escalation unresolved.
Oman TV reports a Russian drone hitting a Kyiv school without casualties. Its panel adds competing explanations: Talal Abu Al-Shaar cites Russian precision-strike claims and suggests schools may serve military purposes; Kyiv-based Imad Abu Al-Rub describes video of a direct hit and calls the buildings civilian, while declining to assert deliberate targeting. Joe Tabet separately alleges a wider Russian strategy of striking civilians. These claims remain attributed, and the broadcast provides no independently established military use of the school. TSN's complete on-scene October 1 report identifies the school in Solomianskyi district. Principal Valentyna Chorna says 104 children were sheltered; emergency-service spokesperson Pavlo Petrov says all staff and students were safe and nobody was injured. Bomb-disposal specialists dealt with a warhead on the second floor; the facade, stairwell and windows were damaged and a fire extinguished. The shelter stayed intact. Some approaching pupils were outside between alerts, but nobody required medical care. The source's after-9-a.m. timing and prior-year neighborhood damage remain attributed. This firsthand civilian account does not verify the panel's military-use speculation.
