National Day tourism crowds across China

Oct 1–7

CCTV says the 2026 National Day holiday box office exceeds 500 million yuan on October 3 and the annual total exceeds 30 billion. Traces of the Detective leads the holiday releases with over 200 million; nine films have passed one billion this year and domestic films occupy the five leading positions. It reports moviegoing subsidies, lower average prices, record screenings and admissions for this period and additions to cinemas and screens through September. The second part describes Film Economy Promotion Year activities linking movies with tourism and other spending: Shanxi filming locations see strong holiday booking growth, Ningxia's Shitanjing film town receives over 10,000 daily visits in recent days, and Qingdao offers filming-location tours. An industry-chain output estimate exceeding 470 billion yuan covers the year to date, not holiday box office.

CCTV reports busy tourism at the start of the 2026 National Day holiday, including more than 300,000 first-day visitors around Tian'anmen and more than 6,000 on Wuzhizhou Island. Landscapes, traditional performances, cultural markets and heritage crafts draw visitors in several provinces. Local counts retain their own scope; selected tourists describe pride and enjoyment. CCTV's October 4 continuation reports nearly 14% year-on-year growth at Mount Siguniang and over 125,000 Huangguoshu visits over the first three holiday days, extended Yangshuo rafting and diverse daytime, heritage and nighttime outings. These compatible local updates describe the continuing holiday tourism episode; no aggregate national visitor total is inferred. CCTV's October 3 accounts add ecological outings, Tianshan Tianchi's reported 25% first-two-day visitor growth, heritage and museum visits, local nighttime events and film-location tourism. Wangxian Valley's 200,000 holiday visitors remain a forecast; Shitanjing's over 10,000 daily visits refer to recent days. These are compatible local additions to the continuing national holiday episode, not a combined nationwide count. CCTV's October 6 continuation adds nearly 150,000 Chaka Salt Lake visits over the first five holiday days and over 3.85 million visitors at Beijing's 14 municipal parks. It presents scenic and cultural visits, boating, lantern and light shows and nighttime cruises, with one tourist's favorable testimony. Counts remain local and period-qualified; this is a continuation of the holiday tourism episode. CCTV's October 7 reports add more than 210 million holiday urban-park visits, 11,000 themed activities and 5.2 billion yuan in associated spending, citing the housing ministry. Chaozhou's more than 240,000 park visits are a local measure. Its culture review revisits holiday heritage outings. Its separate inbound report gives Beijing's 112,000 visits and Sichuan's 47,903 over the first six holiday days, with individual foreign visitors and service responses. Park visits, local counts and foreign visitor counts overlap and are not added into a national unique-tourist total.
