Yemen launches Dawn Government claims gains
Yemen's Operation Dawn offensive launches
Oct 5
Oman TV reports Yemeni government armed forces' claim to have taken Bab al-Mandab, Dhubab Airport and Mocha in Operation Dawn of Yemen, on northern, western and southern fronts and encompassing Sana'a. It attributes the military account to spokesman Majid al-Zayla'i and reports the Saudi-led coalition's claim of 100 fighter jets striking more than 300 targets. The anchor says Presidential Leadership Council chairman Rashad Al-Alimi announced the offensive the previous day. The report places it after weeks of fighting and earlier Houthi claims to Mocha, Bab al-Mandab and parts of Taiz. Competing territorial claims are not independently resolved.
Oman TV reports the Yemeni government's Operation Dawn offensive on northern, western and southern fronts, encompassing Sana'a, and its armed forces' claims to Bab al-Mandab, Dhubab Airport and Mocha. It attributes to the Saudi-led coalition an air operation involving 100 fighter jets and more than 300 targets. The bulletin says Al-Alimi announced the operation the previous day and recalls earlier Houthi claims to coastal territory and parts of Taiz. These are competing military accounts, without independently resolved control. CCTV's October 5 account also reports the named offensive on three fronts, the government's western-coast gains and the Saudi-led coalition's claimed air operations. It preserves Houthi sources' denial of government progress around Dhubab and their claim that fighting over Bab al-Mandab continues. The competing claims and Oman TV's recall of earlier Houthi gains are retained; these reports do not establish an independently verified current control map. Kan's October 5 Roi Kais account describes the same Operation Dawn gains around Bab el-Mandeb, continuing Houthi advances on the Taiz front and Saudi-bound launches, and difficulty reaching Sana'a. Faction sources expect possible Pakistani assistance if the campaign continues; Emirati/Qatari financing willingness and possible behind-the-scenes support remain reported prospects, not completed deployments, financing or verified territorial control.
