Israeli attacks kill Gazans on October 7

Oct 7

Goodman interviews Akram al-Satarri from Gaza City on the third October 7 anniversary. Displaced resident Akram Abu Jarad describes homelessness, shortages and water queues. Al-Satarri estimates 85% of the built environment destroyed and 74% of Gaza under Israeli control, and describes unsafe water, displacement, separated families and missing bodies. He reports a sixty-year-old killed in Khan Yunis hours earlier and a fatal Al-Shati drone strike yesterday, with injuries. He believes the confirmed 74,000 deaths undercount the toll and cites about 8,000 unrecovered bodies and around 250 journalist deaths. He argues journalists were targeted for documenting atrocities, whose footage informs investigators and diplomats. He recalls aid work with released prisoners and displaced residents, food and shelter deprivation, more than 500 humanitarian-worker deaths and their continued service despite risks and shortages. Goodman cites a UN figure above 560 aid-worker deaths. Counts and intentional-targeting claims remain attributed.

Democracy Now reports at least three Palestinian deaths on October 7, including sixteen-year-old Nimr Barbakh shot east of Khan Yunis and civil-defense worker Mohammad Tammous dying from wounds from an earlier Kamal Adwan-area airstrike. From Gaza City, Akram al-Satarri separately reports a sixty-year-old killed in Khan Yunis hours earlier and describes continuing aircraft activity, displacement and severe shortages. The sixteen-year-old and sixty-year-old are not conflated and counts are not added. His previous-day Al-Shati drone-strike account is contextual. Cumulative tolls and humanitarian estimates remain attributed.
