Mediapart releases Bardella-message evidence

Oct 1

France 2 reports Mediapart's publication that evening of documents it says authenticate alleged antisemitic 2013 messages attributed to Bardella. The outlet says it obtained complete Messenger data from Facebook via a source, certified by a bailiff, and compared personal details with his 2024 autobiography. Bardella rejects the material as grossly manipulated, manipulable screenshots and says it will not stand in court. He announces another complaint for forgery and use of forgery. The broadcast does not independently establish authorship or that the announced complaint has already been filed.

Mediapart publishes material it presents as evidence supporting its allegations of antisemitic messages attributed to Jordan Bardella. RTL's October 2 interviewer expressly places the release the previous day and repeatedly asks whether that evidence establishes authorship. Darmanin says he has little doubt given the political milieu he associates with Bardella's youth, criticizes the denial strategy and questions suitability for office, but also says the implications depend on the evidence being irrefutable and uncontested. The source does not demonstrate the documents' authentication itself or settle authorship. France 2's October 1 report says Mediapart presents Facebook Messenger data, bailiff certification and comparison with Bardella's autobiography as authentication of alleged 2013 messages. It airs Bardella rejecting authenticity and announcing a complaint for forgery and use of forgery. Those are competing claims; the report does not establish authorship or completed complaint filing. RTL's next-day interview remains a separate attributed assessment of the same evidence publication.
