CMG airs 'Chinese flair' interviews

Oct 2

CCTV's National Day street-interview feature asks residents, tourists and a Turkmen student what 'Chinese flair' means to them. They discuss Hanfu, ancient architecture, travel along the Hexi Corridor, opera, landscape painting, restrained family affection, poetry, cultural accessories abroad and continuity with earlier generations. Cai Bei connects personal contribution with national development, and participants end with wishes for cultural continuity and national prosperity. These are individual cultural and patriotic opinions; the programme presents no representative polling result.

In its October 2 National Day feature, CMG airs street interviews with residents, tourists and an international student about Chinese cultural identity. The participants discuss traditional dress, architecture, opera, poetry, family affection, cultural confidence and wishes for the country. Individual opinions are retained; no survey majority or policy decision is established.
