China sets food-diversification programme
2026
CCTV presents Xi Jinping's all-encompassing approach to food and China's diversification of food supply. It describes holiday harvests, Turpan salmon ponds and the 2015 Central Rural Work Conference's call for broader agriculture and food, followed by Xi's environmental and resource-capacity qualifications without dating that quoted explanation. It recalls the Twentieth Party Congress and says the Fifteenth Five-Year Plan establishes a national food-development programme. Zhao Changbao argues for broadening supply while protecting 1.8 billion mu of farmland. The report gives grain, vegetable, fruit, meat and aquatic-output totals and describes a germplasm survey as recently completed, adding 139,000 crop accessions, 1.07 million livestock and poultry genetic materials and 120,000 aquatic accessions; it connects these resources to named new crop varieties and Xin Xia's explanation of breeding possibilities. It covers controlled-environment farming, understory production and Lianjiang offshore aquaculture, with Guo Jiantao discussing typhoon resilience. Current output claims are distinguished from future facility upgrades and the target for controlled-environment vegetables to reach about 40 percent by 2030.
CCTV says the Fifteenth Five-Year Plan establishes a national all-encompassing food-development programme combining agriculture, forestry, livestock and fisheries. Zhao Changbao argues for wider food sources while retaining the 1.8-billion-mu farmland red line. The report describes facility upgrades, integrated understory production and offshore aquaculture; controlled-environment vegetables are targeted to rise from over 30 percent today to about 40 percent by 2030. Future targets are not completed results.
