Putin weighs a trilateral With Trump and Xi

Oct 1

Lukyanov imagines Putin, Trump and Xi sharing an APEC waiting area and asks about their rapport. Putin describes cordial relations with Trump, thanks him for efforts over Ukraine and thanks Melania Trump for humanitarian work, including exchanges. He says the difficulties in US–Russian relations accumulated over decades and hopes for mutually beneficial cooperation. On a possible trilateral meeting he is supportive but says an agenda still has to be defined. The exchange confirms no invitations, agreed subjects, date or three-leader summit.

Putin thanks Donald Trump for what he describes as sincere efforts to resolve the Ukraine crisis and Melania Trump for humanitarian work including exchanges. He recalls cordial relations and hopes accumulated US–Russian difficulties can give way to cooperation. This is an attributed public appraisal, not a new exchange agreement, settlement or summit decision.
