Iran's $2 billion currency-sales program

Sep 30–Oct 3

The Central Bank's cash-currency sales begin today, IRINN reports, under a $2 billion program with $1 billion in its first phase through selected bank branches and affiliated exchanges. Citizens over 18 may present a national ID to obtain up to $10,000, compared with the previous $1,100 allowance. The bank also announces a ban on direct or indirect bank or digital-platform credit for buying gold, foreign currency or cryptocurrency, with action against violators. The financial block reports a relative exchange-rate decline and losses in most gold and silver funds, followed by a stock-index gain above 170,000 points and gains in about 90 percent of securities; it does not establish that the FX program caused every market move.

IRINN's September 30 account says Central Bank currency sales began that day under a $2 billion program, with $1 billion initially through selected banks and affiliated exchanges and adults over eighteen eligible for up to $10,000 with a national ID, compared with the former $1,100 quota. It reports a relative currency decline and losses in most gold/silver funds without proving causation or full program delivery. Show 293 on October 3 repeats the same terms but says sales began that morning. The launch date is unresolved: the September 30–October 3 range bounds conflicting onset reports, not proven continuous execution or an established second program.
