Torres reports transfers 1,100 moved to facilities

Speaking in Ceuta just after 21:30 on Sunday October 4, Ángel Víctor Torres says the operation that began at sunrise and continued until nightfall has ended. He credits hundreds of personnel from the National Police, Civil Guard and Army, together with organizations and interpreters. He says a large part of Trampolín beach has been cleared and 1,100 migrants have been transferred to official facilities, without significant security incidents and in an orderly manner. He praises those involved and says the government will continue the work and provision of spaces begun in recent weeks so nobody has to spend the night on Ceuta's streets and normality can be restored. These are his reported results, assessment and commitment; he does not claim 1,100 returns to Morocco or clearance of the whole beach.

He describes no significant security incidents and pledges continued provision of spaces so nobody sleeps on Ceuta's streets. The 1,100 transfer figure and the earlier return estimate concern different movements; completion of that day's operation does not establish clearance of the entire beach.
