Floodwater in Madrigueras Engulfs streets and cars
October 2 Spanish storm floods
Oct 2–3
Published by MeteOrihuela and captioned as Madrigueras, Albacete, on October 2, 2026, this continuous elevated-view recording shows fast-moving muddy floodwater filling streets. Several cars are partly submerged, with vehicles tilted and pressed together as water rushes around them. The camera pans across adjoining flooded streets and water along building fronts. The original ambient sound contains no intelligible speech or narration.
On October 2, torrential rain floods communities along Spain's Mediterranean coast. RTVE reports emergency warnings and trapped vehicles at Los Alcázares, rescues and material damage in Montsià and Baix Ebre, temporary confinement, Valencian school closures affecting about 400,000 pupils and cleanup at Peñíscola. The Los Alcázares reporter says no major incident has yet been reported locally despite around 300 calls. Meteorologist Mónica López gives 184 litres per square metre at Alzira and 239 at Alcanar and explains continuing storms fuelled by warm seawater and cold air. Her weekend warnings and prediction of a western DANA next week remain forecasts, not already observed consequences. France 2's October 3 follow-up reports the same October 2 storm episode's inland Madrigueras flooding, vehicles swept together and church damage after rain began the previous afternoon. Residents and municipal workers clean up on October 3; Almazora firefighters pump homes overnight and Tarragona crews travel by boat. The forecast continuation to October 4 is prospective and no casualty total is supplied. DD India's October 4 weather report retrospectively identifies Friday's Madrigueras flooding and says an elderly woman was found dead in her home after waters rose over a metre. This attributed fatality account supplements the earlier footage and cleanup testimony; it does not contradict the distinct Los Alcázares reporter's local, earlier no-major-incident assessment or supply a reconciled storm-wide death toll. CCTV's October 4 bulletin reports at least three deaths nationally after recent southeastern and northeastern Spanish flooding and describes inundated buildings, disrupted roads and evacuations in Madrigueras. That national, later toll is not assigned solely to Madrigueras and does not negate RTVE's earlier local no-major-incident assessment or DD India's one named local fatality account. A continuous recording published by MeteOrihuela and captioned as October 2 in Madrigueras, Albacete, adds a direct elevated view of turbulent muddy water filling streets, surrounding partly submerged and tilted cars, and reaching building fronts. Its ambient sound contains no intelligible speech.
