Trump’s UN address Fox’s opening news package

Jan 3

Fox’s Lucas Tomlinson reports Trump defending his record at the UN and threatening either a deal with Iran or renewed destruction. He describes the three-hour meeting between U.S. envoys and Iranian officials, Trump’s meetings with Zelenskyy and Delcy Rodríguez, and the earlier apprehension of Nicolás Maduro and his wife. The package also airs Trump defending continued U.S. military presence in the Caribbean.

Fox recalls the American capture of then-president Nicolás Maduro and his wife in Caracas, linking its aftermath to returning U.S. oil companies and Trump's September meeting with Delcy Rodríguez. AUF1's September 23 retrospective describes Maduro's January seizure as an abduction and links it to Washington's expanded influence over Venezuela's oil sector and the later oil agreement. That characterization is AUF1's account, alongside Fox's capture framing; the brief provides no new detail about the operation itself.
