Alito suspects Dobbs leaker Says evidence insufficient

Oct 2

Shannon Bream reports her same-day interview with Justice Samuel Alito about his book and originalist approach to the Constitution. Alito discusses the 2022 draft Dobbs leak, danger to the five justices supporting the opinion and the subsequent attempt to kill Brett Kavanaugh. He says the leak damaged trust, that he has an opinion about who was responsible, and that evidence is insufficient to identify the person. Bream also describes criticism of the Court, expansion and term-limit debates and upcoming coverage. Alito does not name or establish the identity of the leaker.

In an interview with Bream, Alito says he has an opinion about who leaked the 2022 draft Dobbs decision but lacks sufficient evidence to identify the person. He describes damaged trust and danger to justices, including the subsequent attempt to kill Kavanaugh. His suspicion is neither a named accusation nor an established resolution of the leak.
