Terekhov warns of hard heating season

In an on-site exchange, Kharkiv mayor Ihor Terekhov reports three guided-bomb impacts, provisionally identifying the weapons as KAB-250s. He says two people have died, one each in the Slobidskyi and Nemyshlianskyi districts, and search-and-rescue work continues. Neither fatality was a child. He describes roughly fifty private homes destroyed or damaged, an affected office and damage to the Misksvitlo utility's electricity network, with municipal crews working. Asked about casualties, he confirms two dead and twenty wounded; he describes the injuries as moderate at that point but warns the situation may change. He characterizes the attacks as terrorism and says no military target is present at the site. In a separate brief update, he reports a just-occurred FPV strike in Kyivskyi district that burned a car and slightly damaged an apartment building's facade. Asked about approaching winter, he says attacks on Kharkiv and other cities are increasing in waves, predicts a very difficult heating season and says Kharkiv is continually preparing while remaining cautious about the outlook.
In his October 2, 2026 on-site press exchange in Kharkiv, mayor Ihor Terekhov says attacks are coming in waves and increasing against Kharkiv and other cities ahead of the heating season. He warns that the season will be very difficult. Asked whether Kharkiv is preparing, he says preparations are continuous but expresses caution about the outlook. This is a dated public warning and preparedness assessment, not an announcement that heating has failed, a new programme has begun or future service continuity is assured.
