Moscow City opens Minsk-train platform

Oct 1

Vremya reports a new Moscow City platform where Lastochka trains serving Minsk and Smolensk will stop. The report describes transfers to three metro lines, two Moscow Central Diameter routes and the Moscow Central Circle. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin says the major city rail hub is becoming international. RZD head Oleg Belozerov cites around 630,000 passengers already using the relevant services, describes the new urban long-distance stop and thanks Belarusian railway colleagues for joint projects. This is a platform and stopping-service opening, not completion of the separately proposed Moscow–Minsk high-speed railway.

On October 1 a new platform at Moscow City accommodates Lastochka services to Minsk and Smolensk and connections with Moscow's urban rail network. Sobyanin describes the hub becoming international; RZD head Belozerov describes an urban long-distance stop and thanks Belarusian railway partners. This is a new stop and platform for existing services, distinct from the proposed high-speed railway.
