IRINN reports the October 3 announcement of preliminary national and student-teacher examination scores and top candidates in five subject groups. It recalls the August 20–21 examination with over 1.7 million applicants, identifies leading scorers and interviews candidates about surprise, perseverance and family support. Reza Mohammadi says 86 percent qualify for at least one higher-education option. The report gives women 42.5 percent and men 57.5 percent of top candidates, announces program choices from Mehr 13 through 16 and retains Mohammadi's hope of final results in the second half of Aban.
