Tax authority releases holiday sales data

CCTV reports October 8 VAT-invoice holiday data: daily service sales up 19.5%; sightseeing/entertainment 23.6%, travel agencies 26.2%, amusement parks 41.2%, budget chain hotels 6.3% and homestays 12.8%. Dining grows 9%, snacks 15.5%, fast food 30.6% and beverage/cold-drink service revenue up over 200%. Cultural/arts sales rise 20.9%, creation/performance 21%, community cultural/sports activities 28.3% and sports services 29.4%. Appliance/audio-video sales grow 40.1%, daily-use appliance retail 40.6%, household audiovisual retail 36.6%, communications equipment 119.8%, kitchen/bathroom goods 52.3%, pet services 80.8%, fitness/leisure 16.7% and hairdressing/beauty 37.1%. Trade-in subsidies, new digital products and holiday replacement demand are cited as factors. These are category/daily-average invoice comparisons, not GDP growth or unique purchaser counts.

The State Taxation Administration releases National Day VAT-invoice results on October 8.
