Eden injured by police grenade in Val-d’Oise

Sep 28

France 2 reports that a 15-year-old lost his hand when a grenade exploded during clashes outside Auguste-Béhal lycée in Lens that morning. One witness says the grenade landed in his hand; another recalls a grenade on the ground, and the reporter presents a possible pickup. Béthune prosecutor Étienne Thieffry says neither sequence is established and announces an IGPN investigation into violence causing mutilation. The report then shows 14-year-old Eden’s earlier tear-gas-launcher injury: his parents describe a wired jaw and liquid-only feeding, the prosecutor’s office says he approached police, and the family’s lawyer is filing an attempted-homicide complaint. The minister is cited for 190 injured pupils since the movement began. The competing accounts and legal allegations are unresolved.

Fourteen-year-old Eden was injured by a close-range tear-gas-launcher shot during the school-protest confrontation in Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône. France 2’s earlier September 28 report describes the unnamed pupil as attacking police and says two Pontoise investigations opened. Its October 5 report identifies Eden, shows the same confrontation footage, reports an IGPN inquiry and airs his parents describing a wired jaw and liquid feeding. The later report attributes to the prosecutor an account that Eden approached police. These attributed accounts do not settle responsibility.
