Urban October opens 20 deals exceed OMR 1bn
Taqah Sorouh housing agreement
Oct 5
At the opening of Urban October and World Habitat Day activities in Muscat, Oman TV reports 20 partnership, development and tender agreements worth more than OMR 1 billion for housing, services and tourism. The event is held under State Council chairman Abdulmalik Al Khalili, with an exhibition and UN-Habitat award activities. The package describes agreements involving Sultan Haitham City, Al Thuraya, Sorouh, Khazaen, tourism and Kumzar, alongside an Oman–Turkey memorandum. Interviewees explain housing and service provisions: Nasser Al Siyabi describes eight neighbourhood agreements worth OMR 186 million, about 1,850 housing units and roughly 600 plots; other developers discuss Yenkit Hills and Taqah projects. The studio follow-up outlines the conference sessions. Values and projected units are the report's and participants' descriptions of commitments, rather than completed construction.
At Muscat's 5 October 2026 ceremony, an integrated-neighbourhood development agreement under Sorouh is presented for Taqah with an investment value of OMR47 million. The stage display and exchanged folders identify the Taqah project. The next Nizwa announcement begins while Taqah's display is still visible; it is a separate agreement, not an alternative name for Taqah. In the same-day Oman TV package, Al Dahab CEO Ali bin Mohammed Ba Omar says they signed a Taqah seaside residential-and-retail project agreement and gives an estimated OMR40 million. His estimate is retained alongside the ceremony's OMR47 million; the difference is unresolved.
