Shahar Nevo named in case Alleged anti-Arab plot
Shahar Nevo indicted over alleged terror plot
Oct 5
Orly Alkalay reports that the naming ban was lifted that day, identifying Shahar Nevo, 59, a Bar-Ilan mathematics professor from Petah Tikva accused of an anti-Arab terror scheme. According to the indictment, the Ayit plan developed over several years, included instructions not to spare women or children, recruitment attempts and reconnaissance around Tuba-Zangariyye. Moshe Feiglin describes refusing an approach, threats and reporting the matter, and expresses his opinion that Nevo is not sane. The prosecution alleges preparation of terrorism, extortion by threats and obstruction and seeks detention through trial. The report recalls an arrest roughly two weeks earlier; neither guilt nor a psychiatric finding is established.
An unnamed Bar-Ilan mathematics professor is accused in an indictment of preparing an attack plan intended to force Arabs to leave. Kan describes the written Ayit scheme, proposed 72-person force, recruitment attempts and refusals, some reports to police, and an unresolved defence request for evaluation. No implemented attack, recruited partners or competency determination is established. On October 7, after the naming ban is lifted, Kan identifies the accused as Shahar Nevo, 59, from Petah Tikva. Alkalay details the indictment's alleged nationwide killings, instructions concerning women and children, recruitment efforts and Tuba-Zangariyye reconnaissance; Feiglin describes rejecting an approach and reporting threats. The prosecution seeks detention through trial. Feiglin's personal mental-condition opinion does not settle the earlier defence evaluation question. The naming permission is a separately tracked later proceeding; the indictment remains October 5.
