ITU previews Doha conference Media access and elections

Oct 6

ITU's David Hirsch says media registration is open for the Plenipotentiary Conference scheduled in Doha for November 9–27. He describes elections for five leadership posts, Council and Radio Regulations Board membership and consideration of strategic and financial plans. Accreditation requires ITU approval followed by Qatar's e-visa process, with an ITU portal/document review for correspondents outside the UN press corps. Asked about election dates, Doreen Bogdan-Martin's reelection challenge and streaming, he refers to current online candidacies and schedules, says elections are expected late in the first week but will confirm exact dates, and notes not all sessions are open to reporters. He does not identify a challenger or confirm streaming in the answer.
