Messina films Etna Crater and dense plumes
June 2 Mount Etna eruption
Jun 2, 2025
The full unvoiced recording credited to Mirko Messina shows eruptive activity on Etna's upper flank and dense white-grey plumes expanding near the crater and rising above the dark volcanic terrain. It is a sustained visual observation without a spoken explanation of the plumes' cause or aviation consequences.
Mount Etna erupted in Sicily on June 2. TSN’s next-day report shows a large ash plume and slope flows, attributes a probable partial crater collapse to geologists and describes limited overall risk alongside an aviation red warning, some flight disruption and tourist cautions. The crater mechanism remains qualified; the account does not establish universal danger or a complete airport closure. Mirko Messina's separately retrieved unvoiced recording (show 519) supplies a continuous on-scene view of activity and dense white-grey plumes above Etna's upper flank. It does not independently establish the crater mechanism or flight effects.
