About this event

Reported fatal Israeli shelling and gunfire in Deir al-Balah

Sep 29

Oman News’s combined package reports a settler attack on Jalud, south of Nablus, with roads blocked and buildings and vehicles burned. Palestinian media give about 100 settlers; an eyewitness describes about 200 arriving within 10–15 minutes and says the army and Border Police fired tear gas and stun grenades at them. Another witness describes damage to olive trees and livelihoods. A UN one-week displacement figure of about 140 follows. The anchor attributes seven deaths to Israeli shelling and gunfire in Deir al-Balah; the reporter gives three there. These are differing figures, without addition or reconciliation. An unnamed Hamas leader’s targeting in Al-Nasr is briefly reported without establishing that leader’s death. The package describes burial of 40 Palestinians in Nuseirat after recovery of remains from deaths in the war’s early months. A rescue worker separately says 13 bodies, including two girls, were recovered with Civil Defense equipment supplied in partnership with the Red Cross. The close describes shortages and urgent aid needs; burial, recovery and current attack figures are not combined.

Oman News’s anchor says sources report seven Palestinians killed and others wounded by Israeli shelling and gunfire in Deir al-Balah. The package reporter says three killed and others wounded at the same locality. The bulletin does not resolve the difference, distinguish separate attacks or supply an Israeli response. Neither total is added to other Gaza deaths or the Nuseirat burial.
