AUF1 reports that the European Court of Auditors' new annual report projects EU debt could exceed €1 trillion next year and interest costs could total up to €93 billion during 2028–2034. Pollak says debt servicing through the EU budget would ultimately burden member-state taxpayers because national contributions finance much of that budget. These are projections and an attributed assessment of who would bear the costs.
