China's Mid-Autumn and National Day rail operation begins September 23 and runs through October 8. CCTV gives a forecast of 284 million passenger trips and about 13,000 passenger trains daily. Nighttime trains on the Beijing–Shanghai, Beijing–Guangzhou, Beijing–Harbin and other main high-speed lines are planned from September 24. The passenger total is projected, not already carried.

On September 29, CCTV says the 16-day combined holiday operation is underway and railways are using 12306 booking data to add trains on popular routes. It names additional-train announcements that day on the newly opened Xiong'an–Shangqiu and Xi'an–Ankang sections. It does not supply a new national train count or final passenger total.
