Netanyahu’s UN walkout IRINN’s protest account
ICC arrest warrant for Netanyahu
Nov 21, 2024
IRINN describes delegations walking out during Netanyahu’s UN address, street demonstrations and reported arrests. It discusses the Iranian delegation’s photograph protest and recalls the ICC arrest warrant. The programme’s walkout counts, arrest figures and interpretations of Israel’s isolation remain attributed, and the warrant is distinguished from a conviction. Its characterization of the Court’s relationship to the UN is the programme’s claim.
IRINN's report on Netanyahu's UN visit recalls the ICC warrant for alleged war crimes and criticizes his access to the General Assembly podium. It says the warrant restricts his international travel. The report incorrectly presents the ICC as a UN institution and uses language implying guilt; the warrant is an allegation-based judicial measure, not a conviction, and was issued by the independent ICC. AUF1's September 25 report also recalls the warrant, dates it to November 2024 and explains that the United States does not recognize ICC jurisdiction in this case. Unlike IRINN's institutional description, it identifies the court separately from the UN. The brief reports no arrest, enforcement ruling or conviction.
