Eisenkot calls for inquiry And pledges electoral change
Eisenkot pledges to prevent Netanyahu caretaker rule
Oct 4
In a complete interview, Gadi Eisenkot calls for an immediate external inquiry into the Flydubai security lapse and for Miri Regev's resignation or dismissal. He says outcome failure is clear but an investigation must establish the security agencies' responsibilities before deciding dismissals, and says Transport appears chiefly responsible while security bodies also have oversight. He proposes suspending only routes with uncertain pilot identities, individual security checks and continuous monitoring, allowing safe routes despite diplomatic costs. He criticizes the government's failure to investigate October 7. Turning to the election, he predicts a Zionist statesmanlike majority, says he is seeking 63–64 seats, pledges to replace the government and prevent Netanyahu retaining power through a caretaker government and repeated elections, and alleges fear campaigning and influence operations. These are his political judgments, proposals and predictions, not implemented flight restrictions or an election result.
Eisenkot tells Kan he expects a statesmanlike Zionist majority and is working for 63–64 seats. He says the opposition will prevent Netanyahu from using 50–51 seats to prolong caretaker rule through another election and pledges to replace the government. He accuses Netanyahu's circle of fear campaigns and influence operations, referring to Bild and Qatar, and predicts defeat on October 27. These are pledges, accusations and forecasts, not an agreed coalition or election result.
